Paul joined French Associates in 1990 and quickly established himself as a key leader within the firm. He was named Senior Associate in 1996, Vice President in 2002, when he also became a partner of French Associates—and later advanced to Executive Vice President in 2007. Over the course of his tenure, Paul helped guide the firm through significant growth and strengthened its reputation as a leader in educational and civic design across Michigan.
Throughout his career, Paul played an integral role in elevating French’s profile and impact. Under his leadership, French Associates earned its first AIA Detroit Design Award for the Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve. His expertise and commitment to civic service led to multiple community appointments, including several years on the Rochester Hills Planning Commission and the Mayor’s Business Council. Paul also contributed to the broader architectural profession as a board member of AIA Detroit and shared his knowledge through publications in outlets such as Masonry Institute of Michigan, School Planning & Design, and American School & University.
Reflecting on nearly 45 years in the architectural and design industry, Paul values both the problem-solving nature of the work and the collaborative spirit it demands.
“I have always enjoyed the puzzle-solving aspect of architectural planning and design. Working with clients to achieve their goals and vision for a successful design solution has been most gratifying. I have also enjoyed the team collaboration within French Associates to realize the best solutions for the planning problems presented and to witness the collective sharing of ideas and thoughts.”
Today, Paul continues his commitment to French Associates, serving as a member of the firm’s Board of Directors.
