This theatre houses a full range of multi-purpose events, including plays and musicals, orchestra and band performances, assemblies and touring presentations.

The 650-seat theatres are designed for audience intimacy, allowing smaller audiences to feel as comfortable as full houses.

The stages have fully working fly-lofts with complete stage equipment systems, including counterweight rigging systems, full stage lighting systems and orchestra pit lifts. Backstage facilities include dressing rooms, green room, scene shop and small studio theatre spaces.  

This example project indicates the ability of our design staff in working with an owner and developing a program to meet their needs. Specifically a series of Performing Art Theaters, this client had 3 very distinct requests for solutions; they required its three theatres to have great equity in their designs. One was all new construction, one was a theatre addition and one was a theatre renovation. Each theatre houses a full range of multi-purpose events, including plays and musicals, orchestra and band performances, assemblies and touring presentations.

This PAC was added onto the existing fine arts wing of the building. which already had separate instrument & choir rooms with their own storage and support spaces. All of these spaces were completely remodeled including the existing practice & rehearsal rooms. Keyboard labs and editing rooms were a part of the program requirements and those spaces were added onto the existing music rooms. All of these spaces were equipped with sound absorptive and reflective panels for controlling and directing sound. All of the doors in the fine arts area were equipped with sound seals to keep the sounds from interrupting other spaces.

As part of the planning that was a part of this project, a program for fine arts was created. This was then "overlaid" onto the existing building footprint to see where spaces needed to be altered to meet the program requirements. We were able to meet the needs of the program by renovating existing space and make a seamless transition from existing to new.

The University of Toledo Performing Arts Theater renovation and expansion as we understand will be smaller in scale, but still need to meet all the requirements of a full theater. Our responsiveness to the clients in this example and the others show our variety of expertise.
