General Sports and Entertainment Headquarters

This project was a challenging adaptive/reuse project. A building dating back to the mid- 1800's has such a rich heritage that the renovations had to be sensitive to the original structure. While the original pine support beams limited the floor plan options, it led to an interesting layout solution. Brick exterior walls remain intact and offer a stylish contrast to the sleek, modern office spaces partitioned along the perimeter of this second floor suite.

To encourage the flow of natural light into the interior office spaces, partial walls were implemented for interior offices and exterior offices were lined with stained glass clerestory windows along the corridor side. The elaborate structural and mechanical systems in the ceiling were left exposed to encourage an industrial feel in this contemporary space. The bell tower serves as a casual conference area, complete with comfortable leather seating and an expansive view of downtown Rochester. The lobby, a half-court complete with basketball net, features a bank of monitors displaying 24-hour sports channel programming and leads to hallways lined with sports collectibles.
