French Associates Headquarters

The guiding principal of our corporate headquarters is to let the design of the facility complement its location and context. The site is lushly wooded and surrounded by undeveloped land, with a creek winding through the western elevation. The structure is built into a ridge, flanked by two natural ravines.

The building is at home with nature on this pristine landscape. The design reflects nature while the selection of systems and materials used are environmentally sound, following the principals of green architecture. The interior of the office is lit almost entirely by natural light, streaming from the floor-to-ceiling glass along the rear facade. The plan and elevations of the building are organized with a bi-lateral symmetry. The wood and steel structure forms a series of "ribs" that enclose the space; while roof and wall elements wrap this structure like skin. A geo-thermal heating and cooling system ensures that the building "breathes" along with its surroundings.
